I was born in Chicago, grew up in Massachusetts, went to college in upstate New York, and upon graduating fled to Japan to join the throngs of clueless gaijin eking out a living attempting to teach English to equally clueless Japanese.

I began fanning around the same time I started walking and talking, and my love of drawing followed closely after. And while I more traditionally leave the writing up to my incredibly talented sister, I have been known to dabble a bit in that area of the arts as well. When I found my way to manga, and then later web comics, it seemed logical to combine all these varied interests and start my own. (Easier conceived than executed, lemme tell you!) And thus, after several years, a couple of botched attempts and multiple incarnations, voila: Hekate's Children.

Now to give a bit of an idea where I get my inspiration (or conversely, what may be, at any given time, drawing my attention away from my own manga...):

Western Fandoms (to name a few): Star Wars and Star Trek (the twin gateways from which all other fanning would eventually flow), RGB, Sentinel, Babylon 5 (for you my love will never die!), Stargate SG-1, Battle Star Galactica, Firefly, Twin Peaks (Worst show ender EVER), Gilmore Girls (damn you Maria!), Supernatural (Brother smarm, gets me every time!) Numb3rs (see previous)

Manga/Anime: Fushigi Yuugi (my anime gateway), Gravitation (my first BL), G-defend (proving that you can never have too many gay couples), One Piece (flails at recent cuteness), Tactics (to a small degree) Tsubasa, XXX Holic, Kare Kano, Kenshin (Aoshi-sama!), GetBackers (BanGin dork love forever!), Saiyuki, Juuni Kokki (GRRR, how could it end THERE?! Le sigh), Saiunkoku, Ouran High School Host Club (how can you be over?! *sobs*), Bleach (manga more than anime), Hunter x Hunter, Kizuna, X/Tokyo Babylon (it's all about Subaru and Sei-chan, really...and evil Fuma's trench coat), CCS (anyone sense a Clamp theme going on here :-p), Kouseruteru no ryujutsushi monogatari (quite possibly the cutest manga ever!), Koori no mamono no monogatari

Books/Authors: The Temeraire series by Naomi Novik (dragons in Napoleonic times, does it GET better?) Harry Potter (*sniffle*), LOTR (books and movies, really), The Song of Ice and Fire series by Martin, Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer (cause I have a weakness for super geniuses, especially when they're criminal mastermind twelve-year olds), War of Shadow and Ligh series by Janny Wurts (next one, plzkthnks), all of Lynn Flewelling's books, Nightlife by Rob Thurman and all the comings sequels (I'd like those NOW as well...actually, I guess that goes for really every series on this list...why am I only reading unfinished series? Ahhhh!), Mel Keegan's stuff (cause I have a weakness for cheesy, hurt/comforty gay erotica...)
